1. Comments from Clinical Champion Conference Jan 2009
(all comments included)
What part of the conference did you find most useful?
“I really liked the AHLTA simulation & laptops. Also, the coding lecture was very beneficial.”
“Hands on training in the conference room and in the clinic.”
“Learning about computers (laptops/tablets) that providers can have to use AHLTA at home.
Validating the idea that techs can be used to assist docs with S/O documentation & ordering labs.”
“Practice with template.”
“The hands on computer lab in the conference room where I could play with the forms &
experiment.”
“All hands-on processes to include walking through the notes & the clinic.”
“The hands on training. Thumb drive. 3.3 quick reference card [pocket guide] (since we are already
using it on Guam). The play templates look great & can’t wait to try real world.”
“The classroom portion of practicing with the new templates (COMPASS).”
“Clinic time was great- it was nice to have the background & try to win over converts to
COMPASS! It was also good to see how other templates can work in the COMPASS system, if
needed/desired.”
“Presentation of the COMPASS AIM tool. It was nice to see the COMPASS Aim tool actually used
in the clinic.”
“The AIM forms. Especially the hands on stuff- computers.”
“ Using the COMPASS Form on sample patients. Dr. Corcoran’s lectures & disk/thumb drive
information. Excellent job by team of organizing + teaching this conference- where were you when
I was in the FP clinic! “ [this provider now works in GYN]
“Practical test patients! Learning system. Using it in clinic. Consolidating some lectures. 3 days was
perfect!”
What part of the conference did you find least useful?
“Can’t really name anything.”
“I felt the least useful portion of the conference was the hands on /practicum at the local clinic.”
“When we got off topic & talking about obscure points.”
2. “First day – format seemed a bit haphazard. Conference definitely got more organized 2nd
/3rd
days.
Can’t wait for pediatrics COMPASS forms!”
“The technical/computer aspect of the course.”
Introducing forms in clinic- I think it would be more useful if the techs/providers were given the
templates in advance to practice using them. Also- the initial patients were not given the form so we
only got to try I out on a couple of patients.”
Overall Comments:
“Great template. Great process improvement. The most resistant MD at the clinic even warmed to
using the COMPASS process.”
“I enjoyed everyone’s enthusiasm for the process and to help providers be more efficient.”
“Great template, use of check in sheet for patients, employment of technicians. Enthusiastic +
knowledgeable presenters. Will be helpful if all providers in a clinic are following the same
process.”
“For the clinic teaching portion, it would be helpful & less intimidating/stressful for the providers to
have about 2 hours to play in the computer lab with the templates. That will give them time to
imagine how they will incorporate the COMPASS process into their own workflow once they get
the over the shoulder training in clinic.”
“Great conference. I would recommend splitting time between techs and docs on the hands-on
clinic experience.”
“Good conference. Looking forward to trying this at home station. Will be interesting how FHI
works compared with PCO.”
“Overall great conference. One of the best I’ve been to.”
“Excellent presentation. This should be the main training for all new AHLTA users—providers and
technicians! Am AHLTA user since 2005. [Suggestion] Encounter worksheet- add in different font
next to each number on questionnaire the section in AIM form where that info is entered.”
“Great course. I truly feel grateful/appreciative of the fact that you all (as clinicians) are working to
help make our lives better- THANK YOU!”
“The AIM COMPASS template will allow the FHI to succeed. The AIM COMPASS template is an
essential tool in the workflow/concept of FHI. I still feel there must be at least a 2:1 tech/MD ratio
to fully use the workflow/AIM template.”
“Very good conference. Plan on getting my techs to do a few new techniques.”
“Our provider was having a bad day and was extremely frustrated with the new process. The
technician + nurse were very receptive and should do well- if they can get the provider to accept the
COMPASS form. I still have concerns about the FHI template of 18 pts per ½ day- that’s a lot for a
military clinic with any process.”
3. “Handout with how to find forms- flow sheet. Great conference! Excited to sue system & help with
peds forms!”
