Dramedy Pitch-The Office

        Dave Harris
Treatment
•
• Working title- The office
•
• Synopsis- Following the lives of 3 people who work at the same office, through their ups and downs. This is
a show that follows the lives of a secretary, and 2 people who work in the call centre, one middle-aged and
one young. It shows their ups and downs with their problems in and outside of work as well as their
successes in and out of work. This is unique as there are no dramedys set in an office.
•
• Deadlines- I need to have planned the show by 30th November and I need to have filmed it by 25th January
•
• Estimated duration- 2 minutes
•
• Format- 30 minute dramedy, high definition (1920x1080) 16:9 aspect ratio. Shot on Nikon D3100 and
    edited on final cut pro.
•
• Intended audience- people in class b, c1, c2 and d as it will be based in an office, gender will be both as
there will be male and female characters and the age will be 15-35. Also the audience will be anyone who
wants to look at the website
•
• Style- the genre of the program is dramedy (drama-comedy) and is a programme that will feature serious
issues but will have comical elements at the same time.

Treatment continued
• Rationale- The product is relevant to the target audience because it will feature qualities that the
demographic look for in a show e.g. a serious show with comical elements. My idea should be
commissioned because there is a gap in the market as there is no dramedy set in an office in E4.
This reflects media trends as dramedys are starting to emerge as people like comedies that have a
    good story behind them.
•
•
•
•
•
• Budget- I may have to pay to film in an office as I would need to use an office to make the show
realistic. I may have to pay to buy costumes for my cast as well as props to fit into my show. I won’t
have to raise funds to rent a camera as my college has cameras that we can use and I may have to
pay to buy editing software. Any money needed for costumes and props will be done through
    fundraising.
•
• Feasibility- This will be a workable project as I will be able to get an office, I can already get access
to some of the software, and I can get hold of a camera, I can get hold of actors and I can make the
website as I have the right software and I feel I can definitely meet the deadlines.
