Bespoke: specially made software just for you; expensive
and takes long to make, but does exactly what you want
General Purpose: also known as "Off the shelf" this is
bought from a store and is well tested, cheap and widely
available

- MULTI-USER: for many users

- help the user control the computer
Ex. file formatting, anti-virus, disk repair
8. Drivers
- software that gives the computer
instructions on how to use the hardware
- make the hardware work
- always need updating
9. Cookies
- give Web developers the ability to save user
information
- most cookies are set once and then go away
when you turn off your browser
- persistent cookie: set once and remains on
your hard drive until either your space for
cookies is full or the time on it expires
