A Career In Information Technology
1. The Importance Of Information Technology
Education means considerably more than just teaching a student to read, write, and manipulate
numbers. Computers, the Internet, and advanced electronic devices are becoming essential in
everyday life and have changed the way information is gathered. How this new technology is utilized
in the curriculum and managed by teachers will have an important role to play in widening the
resource and knowledge base for all students. Technology affects the way teachers teach and students
learn. To make the best use of information technology (IT), schools need a workable plan to fully
integrate it into all aspects of the curriculum so students are taught how, why, and when to use
technology to further enhance their learning.

To illustrate the importance of Information and Communications technology (ICT) for the smooth
running of a multi–site business.
Information and communications technology is a system used to control, manage, process and
create information through telecommunications technology and computers. (Otherwise known as
ICT). Although information and communications technology describes a large range of systems there
are still some underlining common features.
An information system incorporates a group of people, equipment and procedures. It is there to
collect, record, process, store, retrieve and present information.

– Commerce opportunities: ICT can improve a company's internal and external operations.
Internally, a company can use ICT to streamline, integrate and synchronise key operating processes,
(such as procurement, order fulfilment and customer service). Then it can extend these ICT enabled
processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of supply and distribution channels.
– Content opportunities: Benefits are achieved when a company harnesses information and
knowledge located inside and outside the company to improve the performance of individuals and
groups as they make decisions and take actions. The individuals and groups in question may belong
to the same organisation or they may be customers, suppliers and business partners working with
company employees to achieve common goals. As well as making people work "smarter",
information and knowledge can be used to create new products and services or to add value to
existing ones, thus improving a company's competitive position.
– Community Opportunities: Benefits can also be achieved when a company uses networked
technologies to increase the commitment and loyalty of internal and external communities. Inside
the company, e–mail, groupware and intranets can be used to link employees around the world to

4. My Passion For Information Technology
I realized my passion for Technology during the first semester of my final year of my under
graduation. A particular project I decided to partake in with the black engineers association. This
project required me to develop a computer software to automate certain tasks that formed a part of
an experiment. My intellect gained apt stimulation as I developed the "logic flow", wrote part of the
programming instructions and tested the software in a computer application. This experience
solidified my interest in information technology and exposed me to the enormous potential of this
developing field. After completing my Master of Science in Business Analytics, I am eager to join a
cutting–edge Consulting industry focusing on Information Technology and make a mark as a
profession in this booing and dynamic industry.
I lived in Nigeria, where computers continue to play a large role in my daily affairs. I use electronic
mail and Internet chats to communicate with both parents, and have chosen management
information systems as my course of study. Information technology fascinates me not only because it
makes companies more competitive, but also because it can bridge great distances to bring people
together. I have much respect for and interest in the IT industry.
Personal satisfaction also plays a key role in my career decision. While monetary rewards are of
practical importance, true job satisfaction springs from the opportunity to grow and learn within an

How does information technology contribute to a business success? Information technology is a
current marvel that has dramatically changed our society. Some avenues most affected are
individuals and businesses. Information technology is forced by the microchip, which owes its
existence to the semiconductor. From personal computers and software to production robotics to
communications technology, information technology solutions run the scope. The advantage of
information technology for business success is key to survival in the modern business world model
(Ingram, n.d.).Information technology has grown too high measures that flood the business world,
affecting how companies create and market their products. This also includes how people
communicate and complete their jobs in modern establishments. Continually changing the scope of
business in almost every avenue is specialized software that shapes best–practices and industry
standards (Ingram, n.d.).The construction of technology has allowed modern companies to create
countless strides in operational efficiency and the success of human resources. Such as assembly
lines and computer–controlled machinery that is also known as automation technology, can allow
companies to produce extraordinary volumes of goods. With the advances in transportation

6. Introduction to Information Technology
Introduction The environment of information technology is dynamic and fast changing which
explains the changes in current educational systems which could be going in the directional of
transformational than incremental. Some of researchers believe that it might be the end of an era for
university campuses since they have been known currently to be identifying a change within the
traditional paradigm of learning. Even though education is adopting the information technology faster
as it is being considered to be of positive change than negative change, the changes towards this
information technology could be of detrimental to the education. Due to this introduction of
information technology in the education sector, there are many detrimental that can be realized with
this, for example, Joo (1998) argues that teachers could be removed from classrooms. This is
because lecturers are taken to be never anymore a major source of information towards students for
materials that they were using at one time can now be gotten freely to any individual and hence
devaluated.
Attendance in classes tends to reduce because students just meet with tutors in any case there is rise
of a problem and if there is a synchronous solution which is needed. Hutchison (1998) as well
considers face to face lecturing little more as compared to filter for the process of learning, even
though both students are capable of studying and learning the curriculum with textbooks which are
recommended.

The Role of Information Systems in Business
There are very many types of information systems. Classification of information systems follows the
organizational levels in which they are used or installed for use. For instance, there are management
information systems; some of which will be covered in this project report. Management information
systems (MIS), helps businesses meet their business objectives. Almost all organizations and
businesses today use management information systems; be it large, small, startup or an established
multi–national. This is for the sole reason that information systems have evolved from just being a
tool to gain competitive advantage for businesses, to a vital tool, a necessity in the digital age we
live in. Management Information Systems help managers make better–informed decisions and
communicate with their superiors, as well as with all the stakeholders in the businesses their
organizations are involved in.
The fact that companies are divided in hierarchical organizational levels, there are information
systems to be used in every other level. Management Information Systems are used by all managers
in all levels of organizations. Operational managers use management information systems,
management level managers do too, and the strategic managers are no exception either. The need for
the information systems, however, varies at every level of the

at least four years of their life in an extremely intensive academic environment. Many people have
an altered idea of what being a vet is about. A lot of physical and emotion endurance is necessary to
be a successful veterinarian. Many people are unaware of that.
The specific undergraduate course requirements to get into a school of veterinary medicine vary
between the schools. All of them are science intensive. Most require a well–rounded education. The
University of California at Davis school of veterinary medicine requires one year of general
biology, one year of general chemistry, one year of organic chemistry, and one year of physics as
far as lower division requirements. Upper division requirements include a semester of
biochemistry, a semester of systemic physiology, a semester of vertebrate embryology, and a
semester of genetics. On top of that they want their applicants to have taken courses in English

A Comparison on How Students Used Technology Before and Now
Computers were not yet an integral part of every classroom. According to Crane (2000), a study in

exercise but were not connected to the ongoing curriculum. The same study noted that in middle and
high school, computers, were being used primarily to create documents or to teach computer skill.
Now in the 21st century, Charp (2003) reported that the use of technology for students has not only
increased in the classroom, but also in homes, libraries, coffee shops and other places throughout our
nation's communities. During the years of President Clinton he pledged to wire all school to internet

This process is called a business process model since it is a graphical representation of the
transactions, events, and results that can be described and documented. Once an analyst has
gathered all the information they need on a business process then can either sketch out the model by
hand, or use a computer program that uses business process modeling notation. Business process
modeling notations are a set of universally understood shapes and symbols that represent the events,
processes and work flows.
For example, if an analyst was hired to work for a supplier who wanted to revamp the software
they use in order to track inventory that goes in and out of the warehouse, they would first need to
gather all information on the businesses profile in order to better understand how the business side
of the company works. Once the analyst has a better idea of the company's overall business plan,
they can better evaluate the company's needs. They then need to gather information on how
products enter the warehouse, are sorted and inventoried, as well as how they leave the warehouse.
