The song The Nobodies by Marilyn Manson was written for all the loner kids in the world who
may have problems at home, school, or work and has to deal with bullies, abuse, and
experience horrible crimes like rape of murder. He got his inspiration to write this song from a
high school massacre that happened on April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School in Columbine
in Jefferson County in the state of Colorado.
In the song the first verse in “Today I’m dirty “What he means by that is, you see the real world
for what is really is. You see all the murder, how everybody isn’t innocent, all the propaganda
and lies from the media, and government. You have probably had a hard life. You may be a
loner or misunderstood because people don’t see you for who you really are. You may also get
bullied, experienced abuse, murder, and rape. The second and third lines say “I want to be
pretty, tomorrow I know I’m just dirt “is basically you don’t want the tough life you have. People
always say ignorance is bliss, and that is exactly what you want. You would be in a cocoon of
safety, and be ignorant of all the murder, be naïve, and believe what the media and government
say. In the end, you know it’s all a dream, and you will still be what you believe you are, dirty.
In the second verse, the first 3 lines Say “We are the nobodies, We want to be somebodies,
Were dead, they’ll know just who we are.” It clearly states that your unnoticed by anyone and
you want to be noticed by people but you’re not. You probably can’t handle it, but they will
notice you if you commit suicide or attack someone.
There are other shootouts at school or suicides. The media is doing all these pity parties making
these lies or twisting the stories. When people watch that, they pray for the victims from those
kids, and slander the troubled and don’t help them. They are just making it worse for the
misguided and push them to do those things. All the media and government get good rating
because of all shootings and suicides that they always focus on for the public twisting stories
and using fake emotions. No wonder why are society is the way is it is today.
