3. Why is MY skin like
this now?
• Combination of factors:
diet, environment, health
condition, stress level, individual
hereditary factors
• Hormonal activity in growing
body – oil producing
sebaceous glands work hard
and produce excess oil
Glands are mainly located on the
face: nose, forehead, chin.
• Oil combines with cells on the
walls of sebaceous glands and
clogs pores --> acne
5. Keeping Skin Clean
• Cleanse – every day (morning and evening) to keep pores clean and
unclogged.
Cleanser: water soluble or mud based to gently remove access oils and dirt
• Exfoliate – twice a week, gentle exfoliants with glycol or lactic acid (they
dissolve dead cells and have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammation
properties)
• Tone or Disinfect – daily, using solutions with minimum alcohol content
Good natural ingredients for toner are witch hazel, tea tera, aloe vera,
licorice, also some tonics containing powder to absorb access oils
• Moisturize – daily, with light, non-greasy, easily absorbent moisturizer,
preferably with natural ingredients (calendula, chamomile, ) and essential
oils (lavender, rosemary)

6. Keeping Skin Clean
• Do not pick or squeeze spots – as this leads to spread of infection,
difficulty of treatment and sometimes permanent scarring
• Keep your hands away from the face to avoid spreading bacteria.
• Keep your clothing and bedding clean
• Clean your face after exercising
• Keep your hair clean and as much as possible away from the face.
Be careful with excessive usage of hair care products, as some of them
irritate skin and cause breakouts
• TECHNIQUES
• Herbal Steam - very effective for cleansing, toning and removing access
oils (chamomile, mint, calendula, rosehip)
• Clay masks with oil reducing herbs such a mint, camphor
