9. Recommendation:Coach Ryan Krueger (Former NBA
Assistant New Jersey Nets).
My name is Ryan Kruger. I am writing on behalf of a player
I have been fortunate enough to train for several years,
Dele Ojo. I have known Dele for more than 5 years. I have
watched him, worked with him, and seen his game
continue to improve at each level. Dele is an incredibly
athletic point guard who can both lead his team and score
the ball when called upon to do so. His quickness, leaping
ability, and athleticism is staggering. He is a guy that
makes you sit up and say “wow” the first time you see him
live. In professional basketball,we are all well aware that
there are a lot of guards to choose from, but I am here to
tell you that there are very few with his kind of extreme
quickness. He possesses an explosive and game changing
burst that make him a versatile weapon in countlessways.
As a point guard, his combinationof ball skillsand
explosive first step make him almost
impossible to containoff the bounce. He has an abilityto
flat out go bye people that corner that very few people
have. I have found that many point guards can have a
legitimate handle, but very few possess the ability to turn
the corner versus theirdefender. He has an uncanny knack
for breaking down opposing defenses because he can get
into the paint any time he wants.
As a former NBA assistant coach I love the pick and roll
potentialhe possesses. Today the game is dominatedby
10. pick and roll play. Dele fits the kind of point who would
excel in a pick and roll, early drag game type of system. If I
was running a team, Dele is the exact kind of pointguard I
would want to buildmy team around.
What makes Dele special is that he uses that quickness at
both ends of the floor. Many playersonly use their abilities
on the offensive end of the floor. Dele exerts a constant
and unrelenting pressure on the ballwhich unnerves even
the best of ballhandlers. He consistently turns the ball
handler, directs him where he wants to go, and makes him
work extremely hard just to get the ballover half court. He
has great handsand outstandinganticipation.He always
seems to get his handson a loose ball or come from
nowhere to get a steal. Needless to say, his lightning
quickness and fast hands, combinedwith an insatiable
desire to defend (that very few players at any level have),
make Dele a completelydisrupting presence on every
possession. He is a defensive presence that must be
accounted for. He disrupts the flow and timing of any
offense which is a huge advantage for any defense.
On top of being a terrific 1 on 1 player, Dele has a great
understandingof the team concept. He is very well liked
by his teammates and coaches. He does a terrific job as a
point guard of balancinghis shots with getting his
teammates involvedand into the game. Dele is a willing
and enthusiastic learning and picks up basketballconcepts
very quickly. He learns the game like a sponge. Very few
players have picked up things as quickly as Dele. If you say
something one time, he gets it and understandsit. The
11. next time you see him play,he is incorporatingthat into
his game.
Dele was blessed with uncannyathleticism. But he does
not rely solely on his athleticism as so many other players
do these days. He is one of the hardest working playersI
have ever met. Dele’s commitment to work on his game
and improve his skillsis second to none. His is committed
to continuallywork on his shooting, ballhandling, and
understandingof the pick and roll game. He is committed
to lifting weights to get stronger and keeping himself in
great shape.
As impressed as I am with Dele’s basketballtalents, I could
honestly say I am more impressed with his character as an
individual. He is the type of player we all want
representing our organizationsand our teams. It has been
my experience that successful teams and successful
corporationsconstantly look to hire people who set goals,
are determined to achieve those goals, and are self-
motivated in pursuit of those goals. I can say without
hesitationthat Dele possesses these qualities. Over the
years I have written many letters of recommendation, yet
never has one been this easy to write. I can think of no one
I would recommend to you more highly than Dele Ojo. I
appreciate your time and if you have any additional
questionsor I can be of any further assistance, please do
not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
