1. The Audubon Trail
On one sunny morning, Jason decided to take awalk through the woods on the Audubon Trail.
Jason loved to walk in the woods, just him, the plants and the animals. On this morning, the birds
were chirping and the leaves were dancing in the wind. All of the flowers had already blossomed
and were standing proud. The sky was a bright blue and not a cloud in sight.
Jason had walked the Audub Trail many times before, but each time seemed to be a new
on
adventure. He always saw different animals and plants, which made his walk very interesting.
Jason packed a lunch and was out the door.
When Jason got to the beginning of the Audubon Trail, he was so excited. He started his walk,
but it wasn’t long before he stopped to look at a strange looking bug on the ground. He didn’t
want to touch or pick up the bug becausehe didn’t want to bother it. Jason turned and started to
walk again. Further down the trail, Jason saw a small bush moving. He paused and waited to see
what was in the bush. After a few minutes a rabbit jumped out of the bush, saw Jason and hopped
away. That brought a smile to Jason’s face. Onward he went wondering what other animals he
would run across.
Soon two people walked by Jason going the other way on the trail. They were both smiling and
laughing and they greeted Jason with a quot;Hello.quot; Jason was glad to see other people enjoying a walk
in the woods as much as he did.
There were some birds flying above Jason and it looked as if they were playing with each other. In
one of the trees Jason could see a bluebird in its nest feeding its young. Walking further along,
there was a huge anthill and a lot of ants were busy at work bringing food into their home. A
butterfly flew passed Jason’s head and landed on a flower. It stayed a short time before it was in
the air again.
Some time had passed and Jason grew very hungry, so he found a nice spot next to the trail where
he could sit and eat his lunch. While Jason was eating h lunch a chipmunk appeared on the stump
is
near him. Even though Jason really wanted to, heknew that he should not feed any of the animals.
When Jason had finished his lunch he made sure that he picked up all of his garbage, for Jason
knew that littering was not only illegal, but could be harmful to the animals.
Now full of food and rested, Jason was once again on his way down the trail. Hesoon came upon
a patch of flowers. He wanted to pick a couple for his mother because she loved flowers, but
decided to leave them there for other people to enjoy.
Knowing the trail was coming to an end, Jason paused in the middle of it and spun around a couple
of times. He had made himself dizzy and fell to the ground. When he could sit up again he saw two
eyes looking at him between some branches. And then there were four eyes. Thinking he was still
dizzy Jason shook his head. Two squirrels ran across the branches chasing each other. Jason just
laughed as he got to his feet.
At the trail end, Jason saw a candy wrapper and a piece of paper lying on the ground. He quickly
picked them up and put them in his garbage bag, because he didn’t want them to ruin the beauty of
the trail. Satisfied with his walk, Jason went home. When he got there, he threw out his trash and

2. hugged his mom quot;hello.quot; Jason and his mom sat at the table and Jason told her all about his walk
on the Audubon Trail.
