The STAR incentive program at Ustach Middle School is designed to reward
students for raising their STAR performance level in English and math. Students
earn a STAR ranking of Far Below Basic, Below Basic, Basic, Proficient and
Advanced, depending on how well they do on the California Standards Tests
(CST).
At Ustach, students who raise their performance level one or more levels in both
English and math, or earn Advanced in both English and math earn a STAR
card. The STAR card has several incentive rewards that are valid for the entire
school year.
******* earned a STAR card for this year based on results from the STAR test
given in April, 2010. Students who achieved a perfect score of 600 on either the
math or English CST test received a gold STAR card.
This is a very important test, and I want to express how proud I am of *******
for earning a STAR card. More importantly, I want to thank you for your help
and diligence in supporting the teachers and administration at Ustach. Only 194
students earned a STAR card, which is 20% of the entire student population at
Ustach.
Enclosed is a token of our appreciation for ***** earning this very important
STAR card reward. The magnetic STAR is for you to demonstrate how proud we
are of ******. In a point in time when schools are struggling, this is one of
those opportunities to celebrate the accomplishments of our kids.
Thank you for being the “Proud Parent of a Ustach STAR Student,” and many
thanks to the PTA for purchasing these awards.
