2. There are many causes of agricultural problems which disturb the
agricultural growth in Pakistan. Agricultural sector is the
backbone of our economy. But the growth of agriculture in
Pakistan is facing a lot of problems. Due to various causes, per
acre yield is very low in Pakistan as compare to other
developed countries
Soil Erosion:-
The process of wearing away of soil slowly over a period of time
is called soil erosion.
No mechanism has been adopted to eradicate the soil erosion.
This has led to depletion and exhaustion of soils resulting in
low productivity.
Due to which fertility of soil decreasing day by day.
The thickness of fertile layer of soil in pakistan is 6 inches but
average yield is lower than other countries where fertile layer is
only 4 inches.
3. 2) Water Wastage:-
Water wastage is very high in our country.
The archaic method of flood irrigation is still
practice in whole country which waste 50 to 60
percent of water.
A new irrigation method called Drip Irrigation
system been introduced in many parts of the world.
Which saves water and give water in proper quantity
according to need of plant.
4.
5. 3) Seed:-
Our poor farmers have to use lower quality seeds due
to non-availability of High Yielding Variety (HYV)
seeds. On the other hand, if seed is available they
cannot be purchased due to low income. Agricultural
production is badly affected because of inferior
quality of seeds
6. 4) Old Cultivation Method:-
Old cultivation practices done in pakistan due to
which average yield is lower.
Where as Nepal, India and Bangladesh use modern
scientific methods to increase their yield.
For this purpose these states are using modern
machines to improve yield.
7. 5) Inadequate Storage Facility:-
There is no proper facilities for farmer to store their
product due to which they compelled to sell their product
immediately after harvesting at prevalling prices.
6) Water logging and salinity:-
Water logging and salinity are twin problems of agricultural
sector due to salinity, deposits of salt in land have appeared
on the surface of land and they have adversely affected the
performance of agricultural sector. Water logging and
salinity destroys about one million acre of land every year
in Punjab and Sindh. It reduces our cultivable area. For this
purpose, installation of tube wells, repair of canal banks
and drainage of water etc. are needed
8. 7) Farmers ignored:-
Focusing more on land, crops and yield, the man
behind the plough is always ignored.
Most the farmers are illiterate, poor and ignorant.
Loans issued by ADBP or other banks are used by
them in other fields, inspite of using in agricultural
sector.
9. 8) Lack of Communication:-
The only mean of communication in rural areas is T.V
and RADIO so it is urgently needed to air the
programmes related to new agriculture techniques.
But these programmes should be telecast in regional and
local languages.
Conclusion:
Being an agrarian country, agricultural sector of Pakistan’s
economy is still backward. Use of modern techniques,
provision of credit facilities, basic infrastructure and
agriculture research facilities are needed to remove all the
problems of agriculture sector
