2. There are score of dry ports,
four-score of airports and three
major ports in Pakistan busy for
export and import throughout
the year. Keeping in view
significance of China-Pakistan
Economic Corridor, there is
need for a comprehensive
authority for efficient transit
trade and international trade.
One must remember that there
are authorities for
management of ports and
airports. Current government
intends to form Pakistan Land
Port Authority (PLPA) based in
Islamabad through a bill of
parliament by end of
December 2014.
Business community and media
organizations welcome PLPA
but want dialogue and
discussion before its existence.
FPCCI intends to have members
in PLPA from business
community of Karachi,
Faisalabad and Lahore. Let it be
clear that PLPA is a sheer
necessity and all stakeholders’
demand. No doubt, Pakistan is
on road to commerce and
trade superhighway and
hopefully Planning Commission
will take effective action in
great national interest.
