  1. 1. Climate Development Strategy
  2. 2. Strategy 2000s Departments of Government and foreign donors have been collaboratively improving different segments of environment. PEPA is still significant. Governments have been conducting summer and autumn forestation drives every year. Twenty (20) million saplings will be planted in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during 2013-14. Players in Pakistan • Government of Pakistan • Forests Conservator FATA • Department of Environment • Pakistan Environment Protection Agency (PEPA) • FERTS • Capital Development Authority • Peshawar Development Authority • Pakistan Horticulture Association • IUCN • UNEP • UN Habitat • UNIDO • CDKN • LEAD Pakistan
  3. 3. Climate development must be done by medium and large enterprises and local political bodies in all provinces of Pakistan. MLEs must seek technical and financial assistance from donors and government departments. UNEP, UNIDO and UN Habitat will finance $0.8 million, $65 million and $38.8 million respectively during 2013 to 2017. Strategy 2010s Activity 1 FPCCI, KCCI, LCCI, PCCI and ICCI must arrange seminars and workshops for university graduates so that they could establish climate development enterprises. They can get knowhow and finance from UNEP and CDKN. Livelihood opportunities would be created. Hopefully Zafar Bakhtawari, President ICCI would agree with the strategy.
  4. 4. SMEDA, SME Bank and UNIDO must offer loans to medium and large enterprises for climate development in Pakistan. Activity 2 Activity 3 Every year in May or June, carbon emission and green cover must be evaluated by enterprises having environmental experts and TQM consultants. Remember that donors rely on reports of competent enterprises. Hopefully UNEP and CDBN would agree.
