I had fun interning at Bike Peddler during the last two weeks. I learned many
things that I did not know before. During the winter months, bike shops are
generally not very busy making it hard to find things to do especially for an intern. I
almost always have to constantly engage myself so I don’t just sit in the corner and
do nothing. I realize it is harder for people to have to teach someone to do
something rather than just doing it themselves. The most interesting thing I have
done is building bikes and putting them onto the showroom floor. It is exciting to
see something come out of a box and be able to test ride it just a little while later. I
feel frustrated when I mess up on something or drop things so it makes it seem like
the other employees wouldn’t want to trust me with more expensive bikes.
I think when someone is saying the glass is either half full or half empty it
means you are either a pessimist or an optimist. I think I am generally a half full
kind of guy. I like to look at the bright side of things and will try to make the best out
of any situation.
I think it is perfectly reasonable to expect 100% effort out of your employees
at all times. That is what you are paying them for. This creates a good atmosphere to
work in and if I were a manager I would definitely expect 100% out of my
employees.
I think that you just have to keep your chin up and not dwell on it. Just let it
slide off and not let it bother you. You can laugh about it later. Cheer up!
