Chronic homelessness, unemployment, and deteriorating infrastructure plague Philadelphia. An estimated 4,000 people experience chronic homelessness in the city each year, and budget cuts have reduced assistance for the homeless. Philadelphia has one of the highest unemployment rates in the area, exacerbating problems of homelessness. The city's road system, with over 2,100 miles of streets, is crumbling due to underfunding and lack of repairs, creating unsafe conditions. Comprehensive reforms are needed to address the interconnected issues of homelessness, jobs, and infrastructure in Philadelphia.
