2. Gujarat
• Diwali is the end of the year of Gujaratis. Normally, Gujarat celebrate
Bestu Varas Known as New years’ day. I Gujarat, on this day people
visit each other to wish a new beginning.
3. Kolkata
• In Kolkat, this day is indicated as Kali Puja. Kalighat and Dakshineswar
temple are famous for organising Kali Puja. Bengali people to worship
the Goddess Kali in form of ten days long “Durga Pooja” or “Kali
Pooja”
4. Maharashtra
• Diwali celebrations begin with Vasu Baras. Maharashtrians also pray
Goddess Lakshmi on Diwali day. The festival ends with Bhav Bij and
Tulsi Vivah marks the beginning of marriages
5. Tamil Nadu
• Diwali is celebrated in the Tamil month of aipasi also known as
“Naraka chaturdasi” thihi. Day start with all family members taking a
traditional oil bath before sunrise. Afterwards, sweets are eaten and
new clothes are worn
6. Punjab
• In Punjab, Diwali is celebrated as the Bandi Chhor Divas which is
celebrated in manner like Diwali with the lighting of homes and
gurudwars, feasting, gifting, and bursting crackers
