This training document provides information for medical professionals on protocols for child abuse and neglect cases, including fatalities. It aims to help personnel recognize situations requiring child abuse protocols, determine mechanisms of injury, perform full medical evaluations, preserve evidence, increase observation skills, properly document cases, maintain evidence integrity, and protect life by considering whether a case involves abuse or accident and assessing consistency to advocate for children.

1. CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT
CHILD FATALITIES
This Training is intended for Mandated Reports working in the
Medical Field, to include the following: First Responders, E.M.S., and E.R.
personnel. This training will cover Child Abuse Protocols including, Serious
Physical injury, Criminal Neglect, and Child Fatality.
This Training will allow Personnel to:
- Recognize the need to Implement Protocols.
- Determination of Mechanism of Injury.
- Completion of full Medical evaluation.
- Preservation of Possible Evidence.
