Coldplay are a British alternative rock band formed in 1996 by lead vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland. The band added Guy Berryman as bassist and Will Champion as drummer and backing vocalist, completing the core lineup. They achieved worldwide fame with their 2000 single "Yellow" and album Parachutes. Their subsequent albums A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) and X&Y (2005) were both critically and commercially successful. Their album Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008) won several Grammys and their 2011 album MyloXyloto topped the charts in over 34 countries.
