Reading Workshop can be implemented across grade levels and subjects. It includes whole-class, small group, and independent reading. Students read various texts and genres, and teachers provide daily lessons and confer with students. Reading Workshop is effective but does not need to be daily. It helps students meet reading and writing standards. The workshop will discuss establishing, maintaining, and adapting Reading Workshop at any grade level.

Reading Workshop can be implemented in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms.
Reading Workshop can take place not only in ELA classes but in all content area classes.
In Reading Workshop readers can read whole-class, shared texts, small-group collaborative texts,
and independent self-selected texts.
In Reading Workshop students can read in all modes and in all genres and even media reading.
In Reading Workshop students can read books, poetry, articles, and other texts..
In Reading Workshop there are daily whole–class focus lessons on reading strategies and skills.
In Reading Workshop there can be small-group lessons and guided reading.
In Reading Workshop teachers can confer individually with each student.
In Reading Workshop students have accountability.
Reading Workshop does not have to be held every day to be effective but frequently and routinely.
In Reading Workshop students write about what they read, meeting not only reading standards
but also writing standards.
Reading Workshop is an effective way of teaching.

“Implementing Reading Workshop in the K-12 Classroom” to learn about implementing and facilitating
Reading Workshop in your classroom.
The workshop will be held 9:00am-noon in AASU University Hall 125.
