One of the most popular way to create an outdoor room is to
add a canopy or a pergoly to your backyard.
It's super cosy and very stylish.
There are endless options of luscious furniture that can
weather any storm. Deep chaise lounges and swiveling
rockers are popular with bright colors and patterns. Some
people are even discovering adding an outdoor kitchen is the
best use of their patio space.
2. Outdoor Kitchen
Having an outdoor kitchen means more than a camping grill. A lot of people cannot afford to redo their kitchen or
have a large kitchen. Having an outdoor kitchen is a great way to expand your kitchen and open up some space.

However, if you are just wanting an extra element to cook on,
getting something like an outdoor pizza oven or even just a
fancy grill can be a great way to add value to your patio.
3. Old Meets New
If you are following HGTV or Pinterest at all, you will have
noticed the millions of vintage or repurposed furniture and
accessories. This is a huge trend that is most likely here to
stay. There is something classic and elegant about the
vintage furniture. Adding some new fabric or elements to it can create a piece of art for your patio.
There are a lot of ideas out there, but repurposing old furniture for seating is by far the easiest and least expensive.
Often times you just have to add some paint and new cushions. As a bonus, you can find a lot of these furniture
pieces at garage sales for not very much money making it a resourceful and inexpensive way to jazz up your space.
4. Planting with a Purpose
There’s always room for rose bushes or beautiful flowers in your backyard space. However, this year it’s all about
planting with a purpose. With the concern for the environment mounting, there is a movement towards planting low
maintenance and healthy landscaping for the earth.
Prairie grasses, gardens, and fruit bushes are a great way to spend less to get more. There is the initial cost but
after that it is fairly low maintenance. If you plant a garden, you can make it easier on yourself by using landscape
fabric and an automated irrigation system. This will allow you more time to spend enjoying your garden rather than
slaving away all summer. It’s energy efficient, time efficient, and a bonus you get to eat excellent food!

environmentally smart.

Planting prairie grasses or wild flower mixes are a great way
to help the environment out as well. Prairie grasses have
deep root systems that help create beautiful soil. It’s a great
way to give back to the earth and as a bonus you don’t have
to mow as much!
6. Fire Pits

many different styles and sizes to choose from. This allows you to find the perfect fire pit for your space.

seating area around your fire pit. It allows you to use
your patio for longer portions of the year with the
heat aspect. You can also roast marshmallows in the
middle of summer. They have become extremely
versatile and stylish.
7. Relax and Play
Having patio furniture is a great start for your space.
However, adding in some entertainment elements will keep you using your space night after night. There are so
many different options for entertainment but there are several that stick out this year.
Outdoor televisions that are weatherproof or movie screens are becoming more and more popular. You can have
your movie night under the stars. When fall comes, you can watch the big game while grilling out.
