Improv is about creating
something in a limited time

CAPOEIRA: A BRAZILIAN MARTIAL ART
A group of ASV students learned this “forbidden” dance
Capoeira is a historical martial
art, with its originals in slavery.
Combining body and mind, it
represented the dancer’s
feelings towards suffering. For
a time, this dance was banned
and it became a “forbidden”
dance.
The ASV students had the
opportunity to practice this
dance with two Capoeira
professionals. Even though
students felt “they were not
coordinated,” they “hope they
will progress within several
hours” (Mar Pujadas). Other
students felt “it was fun and
difficult at the same
time” (Steffen Bauer).
However, all of the students
learned to follow the typical
rhythm of this type of dance.
