GOVERNOR DAVID Y. IGE – SHAPER OF THE COSMOS
DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS
You are not entering this world in the usual manner, for you are setting forth to be a Dungeon
Master. Certainly there are stout fghters, mighty magic-users, wily thieves, and courageous
clerics who will make their mark in the magical lands of D&D adventure. You however, are
above even the greatest of these, for as DM you are to become the Shaper of the Cosmos. It is
you who will give form and content to the all the universe. You will breathe life into the
stillness, giving meaning and purpose to all the actions which are to follow. ~ Gary Gygax
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
Perhaps you rely too much on your dragons and not enough on each other. We can rely on our
devices and tools so much that we begin to forget the true connections we should be making.
People are our greatest resource. Not only for fnding success but also happiness. Don't let your
tools interfere with the relationships you need to be building as a leader. These relationships
are invaluable. ~ Valka
THE EDGE OF DARKNESS
Darius Jedburgh, CIA : Now, you know better than anyone, cases like these are never solved.
They're simply too complicated, too much hard work. There's a lot going on out there in this
world. And you just never can connect A to B.
Thomas Craven, Boston PD : How do you know that?
Darius Jedburgh, CIA : Because I'm usually the guy that stops you connecting A to B. It's part of
what I do.

GOVERNOR IGE WITHHOLDS FUNDS FOR CORRECTIONS OVERSIGHT
By Hawaii Public Radio, Original Post Associated Press, MARCH 2, 2021

Hawaii Gov. David Ige has again decided not to approve funds that would have allowed the all-
volunteer Hawaii Correctional Systems Oversight Commission hire paid staf members.
Ige declined last year to release $330,000 in funding to hire staf for the fve-member committee,
which oversees the state Department of Public Safety, the Honolulu Styar-Advertiser reported on
Monday.
The commission was approved by the Legislature two years ago in what was initially hailed as
major corrections reform. The commission was given the power to inspect and monitor
correctional facilities, investigate complaints, report fndings to the public and come up with ideas
for reforms. The commission was formed in July 2019, but it still does not have a salaried
administrator to lead its eforts, the newspaper reported.
Mark Patterson the commission's chairman, told the Star-Advertiser that he wasn't aware that the
funding woud be withheld again until the newspaper contacted him on Friday.
“I hope they don't think that because they aren't going to support us fnancially that we are just
going to die,” said Patterson, who is also administrator of the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility
and a former warden at the Women's Community Correctional Center.
Ige said in a statement that he withheld the funding because of the coronavirus pandemic.
"Starting new programs doesn't really make a lot of sense right now, considering the state of the
economy," said Ige, a Democrat. The state is grappling with a projected $1.4 billion budget
shortfall, which the governor hopes will be alleviated with federal funding pandemic aid.
The Attorney General's Ofce had requested and was denied over $360,000 in funding for four
commission staf members over the next two fscal years.

A small protest was held outside of the Maui Community Correctional Center in Wailuku on

frst reported four weeks ago.

loved ones of inmates who are demanding “immediate improved protections to prevent
further COVID19 spread.”
MAUI MAYOR MICHAEL VICTORINO must allocate funds to bring the HAWAII
CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM OVERSIGHT COMMISSION into Maui County Correctional Center
(MCCC) to ensure they start following the state & Center for Disease Control’s protocol.
Please refer to the Maui Now article for a full list of demands. The demands made by the
