Chapter 10   Learning about different abilities and fairness Presented by: Clara Carrillo, Corrina Escobedo, Vera Lopez, Brianna Aldeen, and, Stephanie Villela
Young children are curious about many kinds of abilities. They always asks questions. As educators,we need to prepare ourselves to answer those questions as best as we can and educate ourselves in this area.
Goals   for   children   *All children will develop autonomy and independence (as they are able to) as well as confidence and pride in their competence. *All children will learn accurate information,approriate to their developmental stage, about disabilities, and special needs. *All children will gain understanding about how their own abilities are the same as and different from others'. *All children learn to interact knowledgeably, comfortably, and fairly with eachh other, whatever their abilities.  *All children will learn how to challenge name calling and sterotyping with respect to their own or others' abilities an will share ideas about accessibility in order to promote interaction and independence.
