6. 6 Some Facts about Ludhiana History of City: Ludhiana City was founded in the times of Lodhi dynasty, from being a small village called Meer Hota in 1481AD to later Ludiana and now Ludhiana, the city has never caught napping. This city is well known for religious contributions. Not many of us are aware that Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji - the 10th Sikh’s Guru blessed Ludhiana area and wrote the famous Zafarnama in 1806. Participation in Freedom Struggle: This city has great association with freedom struggle as Kuka Movement was initiated by Bhai Ram Singh on 1st April, 1857 at Village Bhaini Sahib in the Ludhiana District. As consequence of freedom Fighter rally addressed by Sh. Mahatma Gandhi at Darasi Ground Ludhiana in February 1921, about 3000 freedom fighters got themselves arrested, another 475 participated in Quit India Movement & 87 young soldiers laid their lives during Goa Freedom War.
