1. Thriller openings
All thriller film openings should introduce the main characters and show the
narrative. It will also need to show the location. Along with this it also needs to
show credits and show the genre. The thriller opening also needs to catch and
audience. They should also include signifiers of what will happen in the film.
Also there should be a connotative message in the opening.
To grip the audience it should have a big event in it such as a
shooting/stabbing, an explosion or something that makes the audience want
to find out what happens in the rest of the film. To show location it should
show a main landmark or something that is unique to a certain place. Also it
needs a signifier this can be shown for example with murder. There could be a
letter saying “you’re next”. This shows there will be violence. Also by gripping
the audience with an explosion and so on shows the genre.
Institutions
There are many institutions that make thriller films. The main one in my
opinion is Universal studios. They made jaws, Jurassic park, Bourne identity
and many more. All of these films are well known names in thriller films.
Universal studios are also a well known name around the world.
