Aftermath Entertainment is an American record label founded by Dr. Dre. It
operates as a subsidiary of, and is distributed through, Universal Music Group's
Interscope Records.
History
Upon his departure from Death Row Records in June 1996, Dr. Dre quickly launched Aftermath
Entertainment through Interscope Records (which at the time was Death Row's distributing label). It was
founded as a "boutique label" that prides itself on "quality over quantity", focusing on small numbers of
high-profile releases.
In the autumn of 1997, Aftermath released the only collaborative project by hip hop super-group, The
Firm (composed of AZ, Foxy Brown, Nas, and Nature). Despite the highly anticipated album featuring
production and cameo appearances by Dr. Dre himself, debuting atop the Billboard 200 and being
certified platinum, it sold below commercial expectation. The group subsequently disbanded.
Aftermath's next release was supposed to be by rapper King Tee. His album, however, was shelved, and
King Tee also left the label. Veteran rapper Rakim also signed with the label. Legal troubles forced Truth
Hurts to leave the label, and Rakim's highly anticipated comeback album that was shelved due to
production conflict, also leading to his departure. Since then Aftermath Entertainment has grown on
strength and its success its crowned till this very day.

the Way You Lie". Despite some criticism towards its

8. Eminem did quiet well in school considering the issues he's had until his 9th
grade. He failed for the third year in a row and he got fed up and felt school to
work on something he is more passionate it; rapping. He had been writing rap
lyrics from the age of 4 and wanted to achieve his goal and dream to be a
rapper. He started becoming more popular around the hood, considering his
talent in creating and making up lyrics in his head very quickly. He was using
the initials from his first and last names to form his rap name “M & M” which
later became “Eminem” because of his race, he got rejected by people all the
time, even though he was a really talented rapper. Determined to prove
everyone wrong and not give up on his dream, he forced himself to go on
radio shows and participate in freestyle battles. In the year 1995, Eminem
recorded his first album named “Infinite”, which only sold about 1000 copies.
That same year, his high school sweet heart, Kim, gave birth to his only child,
a little girl named Hailie Jade Scott.
Marshall Bruce Mathers III was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on October 17 1972 to his
mother Debbie Briggs-Mathers and his father Marshall Bruce Mathers II. Debbie was
only 15 when Marshall was born. Not long after Marshall was born, his father packed
his bags and left the family, never to be seen again. This wasn’t the end of a tough
run for Marshall and his family; it was only just the beginning. Marshall got moved
around to different houses and because of this he attended many schools. His mom
finally settled down in a house in Detroit. Marshall was only 12 years old. The
maximum time he spent at the one school was 3 months. He got bullied at every
school he attended and later got back at them by insulting them publicly in his songs
