The cut scene isbasedaroundtwocharacters CharlesandFred;the cut scene isshownat
the beginningof the game andwill beginthe story.The scene beginslike normal with
CharlesgoingintoFred’soffice anddiscussingaboutthe patients.WhenFrednotices
somethingstrange onthe securityfootage,whichcanbe seenonhis monitor,Charlesand
Fredwill thengoto investigate.

Our cut sequence wasinfluencedbygameslike SCP:ContainmentBreach,andOutlast.The
place the sequence takesplace isina mental hospital,whichisverysimilartoOutlast. The
areas inthe cut sequence are the mainlobby,andthe basement/storage room. The main
antagonistof thiscut sequence wasinfluencedby acharacter fromSCP, the Plague Doctor.
Charles(the protagonist) wasinfluencedbythe MedicfromTeam Fortress2. He wears
similarclothingtohim,butdoesnotspeaklike him. Fredwasinfluencedbythe generic
securityguardskinfromPayday2.

The character of Charlesismeantto be a psychiatricevaluatoralongside afieldmedic,and
mustbe preparedtomeet withpotentiallyunstable people,mentallyandphysically,aswell
as deal withonscene applicationof medicationandequipment.Assuch,he wearsasimple
doctor’soutfitwithdisposable glovesandasatchel containingaclipboardfornote taking,
and a medical kitforemergencies.The medical kitalsocontainsneedlesformakingasubject
drowsyincase theybecome agitatedorviolent.He speaksveryformallyalotof the time,
spare the time he spendswithFred,where hisspeechbecomesvariedinformal and
informal.
Fredis a prettystandardsecurityguardwho ishiredtowatch monitorsandmake sure that
nothingchanges.Assuchhe hasfallenintoapatternof speakinginformallyalmostall of the
time,withfewexceptions.He wearsastandardsecurityuniformwithlittletonomarkingof

The storyline followstwocharacterscalledCharlesandFred,inside amental hospital.The
cut sequence takesplace atthe verybeginningof the game. Whenthe twocharactersstart
speakingtoeachother,it’sclearthat there isan issue withsome of the patients,butit’snot
revealedwhatexactlyiswrongwiththem.Aftertheirconversation,Frednoticessomething
on the securitycamera,andthe pairheaddownto the storage roomto investigate.After
2. searchingaroundtheyfindanunknownperson.Theyare attacked,andthe cutscene ends
there.

effects.
Our cut sequence willhave multiple differentsoundsthroughoutit.There will be the
dialogue betweenthe characters,butalso all of the noisesthatwouldgenerallybe heardin
the background.There wouldbe noisessuchasfootstepsanda computer,whichwe would
produce ourselves.There willalsobe musicinthe backgroundof the cutscene,beingquiet
and eerie likeinmanyhorrorvideogames.
Josh 6: How will you produce the audio? What recording/soundproduction techniqueswill
you use?
For the voicesof the characters we will use Studiorecording,asitwill produce the best
qualitysoundforpeople’svoices.Asforthe soundeffects,we willmostlikelyuse Foleyfor
those due to a lack of experience manufacturingsoundswithsoftware.The music/ambient
soundwill probablybe anexistingasset,aswe don’thave accessto a large enoughrange of
instrumentsormusicianstodothat.
