1. ABSTRACT
BelumRainforestresortas partof Malaysiawhichcategorize as a tropical country. Hot and
Humidconditionscouldgreatlyinfluence the temperature onthe site. The aimof thisstudy
was to studythe effectsof thermal comfortinBelum RainforestResortthroughnatural
buildingmaterialusedandalsothe wayof the natural buildingmaterialsaffectthe
temperature andhumidity. The materialsusedinBelumrainforestresort were identified,
and a seriesof researchwasconductedtounderstandandlearnthe capabilitytoinfluence
the thermal comfortineach type of material usedinorderto achieve the thermal comfortof
the building.The studyof buildingmaterialsthatuse inthe site isone part of the important
part or feature of the BelumRainforestResort.It’simportanttolearnaboutthe functionof
the material toachieve thermal comfort. There are some material thatmostlyusedin
BelumRainforestresortsuchas Timber,Concrete,andRammedEarth.Timberisa material
that known as a lowthermal conductivitymaterial whichallowsthe resistance of heatinto
the building.Whileconcrete isknownasa material thatact as thermal massbecause
concrete can slowdownthe penetrationof heatintothe wall.Concrete alsocanbe usedto
absorbnighttime ventilationtoeliminate the needfordaytime cooling.Then,Rammed
earthhas an excellentthermal massif compare toconcrete,rammedearthcan absorbsand
slowsdownthe passage of heatand release the heatwhenthe temperature goesdownand
rammedearthalsocan delayheat flow throughbuildingenvelope. Overall of thisstudy,tell
how natural buildingmaterialsplayanimportantrole inachievingthermalcomfortinBelum
Rainforestresort.
