Westafer has experience in a range of fields, including
dance instructing, acting, and laser therapy. Christina
Westafer is also a philanthropist who regularly contributes
to health care causes, such as the Ronald McDonald
House Charities and the Pediatric Cancer Research
Foundation.
For more than three decades, the Pediatric Cancer
Research Foundation (PCRF) has led the initiative to
research childhood cancers and produce ground-
breaking discoveries in the effort to eradicate the disease.
Since its inception, the organization has raised more than
$30 million used to achieve its goals. Below are just a few
of the foundation’s achievements in its fight against
cancer.
3. 1. PCRF, under the hands of Mitchell Cairo,
MD, conducted the first ex-vivo cord blood
transplant at Georgetown University
Lombardi Cancer Center.
2. PCRF funded the expansion of its
laboratory at the Children’s Hospital of New
York, which serves as a site for research.
3. In 2008, PCRF-supported research shed
light on a cord blood stem cell that may be
beneficial to regenerative stem cell therapy
because of its multipotent properties.
