• The Spanish began calling it Banderas Valley in 1525, the name used
by the earliest culture which settled in the area. It was renamed Las
Peñas de Santa María Guadalupe after Mexico´s Independence and
shortened to Puerto Las Peñas during the years of the silver mining
boom in nearby San Sebastián and Mascota. In 1918 it was named

– The city tour takes you to some of the most beautiful historical places
such as the boardwalk and the main Church. You will also visit the city
hall, flea market, Los Arcos, a tequila factory and its downtown for
shopping in romantic or old Vallarta.
• Caletas
– Accessible only by sea, Las Caletas is surrounded by a steep, jungle-clad
mountain backdrop, making it a truly secluded tropical sanctuary. We
travel aboard our comfortable catamaran along Vallarta's coastline, a
tranquil one-hour ride. Upon arrival at Caletas, you choose between
pure relaxation, which easy to do in shaded hammocks strung between
towering palms or gentle exploration of the surrounding area. Tour also
offers a guided nature walk of our jungle and unique orchid gardens, as
