There are approximately 223 pyramids located in Nubia. While not all were built for kings, the underground graves within the Nubian pyramids were richly decorated. Each pyramid contains three key sections - an underground burial chamber representing the underworld, a steep pyramid above symbolizing ascension to heaven, and a small chapel on the east for sacrifices to sustain the deceased king.
