1. Film Poster Analysis - Gothika
Costume – plain vest – life now has now clear meaning.
Vest is dirty – suggests that her mind is corrupt and
tarnished. Also that her life has been sullied by the
accusation of murder and that her life is now dark and
depressing. Sign of being institutionalised.
Hardly any costume – who goes out in rain in vest?
Psycho.
Oftenh final girls in hborror wear vest that shows slim and
taut physique – could suggest she will fight back.
Hair – bedraggled – mind is messy, psychosis is seeping out
of brain or manifesting itself in hair. Far cry away from the
way she looks at beginning of trialer or film. Her lidfe has
yturned upside down.
Not made up – her appearance is plain like vest and
neg;ected – sign of psychotic stat. Lips are vyer pink,
seems to glow, grabs attention as rest of poster is blue.
Could reflkect that there is some kind of humane part
inside her that is tryoing to get out when she talks and that
she is des[erate to speak and get what she thinks is the
‘truth’ out.
Cheeks look hollow – ill, neglected, malnourished, not
looking after herslef – link to being psychologically ill.
