1. I Can Change Me is a new youth diversion program designed as an alternative to the formal juvenile justice system for youth who have been charged with a minor crime. These youth share certain high-risk factors, including first offense at the age 15 or younger, poor school performance and truancy, lack of parental supervision, substance abuse problems, or gang affiliation.This life-changing program is a 26 week outpatient intense motivational counseling session. Each client will meet in a group setting, up to 15 clients in a group for approximately two hours a week.On week one an orientation and a pre test will be given to each client and each week after, a motivational lecture and one step of the “Change is Easy As ABC Workbook” will be taught. The Last week of the program a post test will be taken and an essay will be written. The answers to the questions in their personal workbooks will be the subject and body of their essay.
