    dear mother

i am sorry . i could not write to you earlier about my new school . i am quite well and happy , though , of course , this school is quite different from the one i last attended . the teachers are very kind and the other girls are quite nice . but i miss my old companions a great deal.

i am learning a great many things - grammar , history ,and geography , besides music , dancing and painting. i take an interest in painting . i have painted a beautiflu picture which i shall show you when i come home.

we have a large playground where in the evenings we play all sorts of games

i am looking forward to the summer holidays when i shall see you again. give my best love to dad and others at home.

    your affectionate daughter
