1. Developmental Workbook - Drama
The Developmental Workbook is a very important part of your studies in Drama.
WHY
Your DW shows how you are thinking, how you solve problems, and how your creative
ideas develop. It contains EVERYTHING you do in Drama. It does not have to be just
written – it can be electronic; visual and audio.
WHEN
Write before, during and after class. Jot down your bright ideas. It need to have an entry
at least ONCE a week.
HOW
It covers all the criteria in Drama –
A: Knowledge and Understanding B: Application
C: Reflection and Evaluation D: PE and Artistic Awareness
You will be asked to self assess yourself in all of the criteria.
WHAT
The Creative Cycle
You have learnt about the creative cycle (design cycle) in Drama, Design Technology,
Music and Art. It is important to show your thinking and working on all parts of the
cycle, not just the creating phase. Show your ideas, brainstorming; planning, reflection
and evaluation of your process, use feedback, investigate new possibilities, changes and
final reflection and evaluations. Record IT ALL in your DW.
This is an ONGOING journey
WAYS
I will ask you to DOCUMENT the PROCESS – you can do this using the front
section of the DW; computer documents; a wiki or a combination.
It will include -
*Drawings * brainstorming * research * concept maps * Free writing * Notes * Ideas *
*Action plans * Aims * Planning * Discoveries * changes * significant moments*
*Questions * groups work* scripts* annotation* designs* skills* rough drafts* links to
AOI* You can use – drawings; notes; film; audio.
You also need to REFLECT and EVALUATE – you can do this using the back of
the DW or Audio or Visual.Your thoughts need to include:
What do you THINK and FEEL about the process
Strengths of the process
Weakness of the process
What changes would you make and why?
How you used feedback
