1. Catherine completed her Bachelor of Music degree on Modern Cello with First Class
Honours at The University of Western Australia. She was subsequently awarded a
Postgraduate scholarship which enabled her to travel to The Hague to follow her passion
for the performance of Early Music. After being accepted into the Baroque cello class of
Jaap ter Linden at the Royal Conservatorium, four years of specialised tuition followed and
she received her qualifications in Baroque Performance, Tweede Fase Muziek and
Uitvoerend Musicus (Masters in Baroque/Classical Cello), also winning the
Conservatorium's prestigious "Nicolai" prize for the highest performance exam results.
Catherine now has an international and varied career, performing and recording both as
soloist and with ensembles based all over Europe, and in addition returning to Australia to
perform solo recitals and record for ABC Classics.
She was a core member of The Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra directed by Ton Koopman
for more than ten years. During this period Catherine toured extensively throughout
Europe, Asia and North America performing in most of the famous concert halls of the
world and recording more than 20 disks. She has also been a regular principal player with
The Academy of Ancient Music with whom she was solo cello with Richard Egarr in the
much acclaimed recording of Handel’s Opus 4 Organ concertos for Harmonia Mundi.
Catherine is invited regularly as guest principal with other internationally respected groups
such as The English Concert and Concerto Copenhagen and is a member of Trevor
Pinnock's European Brandenburg Ensemble, with whom she has also toured extensively
and recorded the complete Brandenburg Concertos which won the Baroque Instrumental
Gramophone Award in 2008.
Catherine records for Deutsche Grammophone with the Italian Orchestra Il Complesso
Barocco, directed by Alan Curtis. With this group she toured in Germany as cello soloist in
the Leo concerto in d minor, which she subsequently recorded for CD release on the
Deutsche Harmonia Mundi label. Other recent chamber music recordings include the
Boccherini Stabat Mater with the Belgian group Capriola di Gioia and Amaryllis Dieltiens
for Aeolus. In 2015 Capriola di Gioia will release a new recording on Aeolus which will
include solo cello sonatas of Lanzetti, performed with Bart Naessens.
In 2008, after being invited to audition at The Concertgebouw,(Amsterdam) by the Dutch
Instrument Fund “Jumpstart Jr.” Catherine was awarded the use of a Gagliano cello for a
period of four years. Both the Boccherini and Leo cello concerto recordings are made
using this very fine instrument.
As cello soloist she has also featured in the Festival of Cremona with Il Complesso
Barocco and in the Utrecht Early Music Festival with the renowned Orchestra of the 18th
Century and the late Franz Brüggen in concertos by Leonardo Leo and JC Bach.
Catherine also performs regularly as soloist with the Baroque Orchestra of the Ernen
Festival (Switzerland) and in previous seasons has performed cello concertos by Vivaldi,
Fiorenza and Porpora. In the coming July 2015 season she will play the Fiorenza cello
concerto in D.
Catherine released her first solo disk of Boccherini and Cirri cello sonatas for Sony DHM in
September 2014 to great acclaim and 5 star reviews;

TEACHING
Catherine is in also very much in demand as a teacher and has taught Masterclasses at
