2. POSTER
The poster for woman in black
features an old-fashioned picture of
children with their eyes being cut out.
Using the children creates a sinister
atmosphere and portrays the basis of
the film. The poster is quite plain but
is intimidating to the reader as the title
‘The Woman In Black’ is shown in an
eerie white with a fading background.
THE WOMAN IN BLACK
TRAILER
The trailer for this film has a voiceover
throughout of a young child who tells the
basis of the films story through a rhyme;
showing her innocence, as if it was a
nursery rhyme. The film uses a lot of
close-ups to draw attention to certain
things like a doll. Also, the soundtrack of a
music box is given throughout; giving a
childish atmosphere which contrasts with
the subtle violence used. This soundtrack
is used alongside the voiceover and when
a dramatic, sudden take is given there is a
short drum noise made to coincide with
the drama.

POSTER
The film sinister uses an image as its background.
The image is of a child dragging blood across a
wall with a demonic face painted in the blood; this
represents what the film is based around as the
face is shown to lead her to draw him. The red of
the blood stands out against the grey and black
writing on the poster. The title ‘Sinister’ is given a
drop shadow effect to show a slight dripping of the
letters, with it being centred in the middle of the
poster and above the girl.
TRAILER
The trailer for Sinister uses a lot of speech
from the father and characters within the film
who’re able to explain the basis of the story.
The shots of the film begin to speed up
towards the end when the problem is
described; by making it fast paced, whilst
using eerie music, a dramatic effect is given to
the audience. The trailer begins with a
backstory of the original family who lived in
the house disappeared, then we’re taken to a
caption of ‘9 months later’ in order to set the
film. Throughout the trailer, sharp lighting is
used solely on the characters whilst darkness
surrounds them – in order for them to stand
out. Also, whenever there is violence or
tension rising short takes are given as if the
camera is refocusing.

4. THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT
TRAILER
This film uses a handheld camera
throughout; so the film and the trailer
is shown with little effects as it’s meant
to be seen as real. At the start of the
trailer we’re given a black screen with
just dialogue of the character. This is
then followed by text on a black
screen; giving background to the story.
Afterwards, we’re shown black and
white footage with voiceovers of
reporters commenting on the matter as
we’re shown takes of dark
surroundings with a little light on the
important aspects to make it seem
more scary. The trailer ends on an
extreme close up of the girl as she
talks; showing her scared and the effect
the events have had on her.

POSTER
This poster uses the colours of black and white
throughout with only the symbol of the Blair Witch
being shown in red; to stand out and represent its
significance. The image of the woods is used as the
background to the poster with a negative effect – this
could show camera settings it was used to be filmed
with or the purity and darkness of the woods. A text
box is given in the middle of the poster giving
background to the story as if to show it matter of
fact-ly with the title ‘The Blair Witch Project’ being
displayed at the bottom of the poster very simply.
