2. Being a teen mother does not
mean you failed, your less of a
person, you’re a bad mother or
that you will never be able to live
your life, you have given life, and
that is a beautiful and amazing
thing.
3. This is the statistic most of us have seen about
teen pregnancy: “Daughters of teen moms are
three times more likely to become teenage
mothers themselves. The sons of teen moms are
two times more likely to end up in prison. “ This
is not always the case. My best friend was born
to a 16 year old mother and is currently in
college in New York and experiencing life as a
young woman. My uncle was born to my 15 year
old grandmother and did not have his first child
until he was later in his 20’s and was never in
prison and is very successful. So although these
statistics are based on “most”, when do we
show the portion who do not meet these
statistics?
4. WHO BEAT THE STATS?
One of the many woman who have
beat the negative statistics is Jada
Smith. Born to a teenager in high
school who soon after became a
single mother and she is now a
famous actress, mother and wife.
5. Sure, being a teenage mother is not the best choice or
best path in life, but not every teenage mother is the same
and some of us actually do mature and become just as
great of parents as any other woman at any other age.
Next time you think to stereotype a teen mother,
remember we all have flaws and are all apart of at
least one statistic in this world.
6. Who is to say we as teenage
mothers cannot succeed in life?
Who is to say we as teenage
mothers will not be as good of
mothers as someone in their
30’s?
