This presentation provides guidance on promoting peace in an uncivil world. It discusses how society's greatest tragedies are often caused not by overtly bad people, but by the silence of good people. It encourages taking action to make positive changes in one's community through volunteering, civic participation, and helping those in need. The presentation argues that apathy can no longer be an option and that all people must work to promote peace starting today.

54. A BRIEF history of this presentation:
Many years ago, after so many reports of school violence and news stories of what
seemed like a string of school shootings, I was being asked by teachers to talk to
students about a bullying & school violence. I was resistant. After many years
working with youth in a variety of settings including with ‘at risk’ youth and
behavior contracts, I just wanted to be a motivational speaker; I just wanted to
speak to students about positive topics like goal setting and life choices.
Then I came across the quote from Dr. King featured in this presentation.
That quote inspired an epiphany for me to address school violence and bullying
AND be motivational and inspirational. I learned it was NOT either / or it was both.
In that one quote I realized the solution to violence is for good people to no
longer remain silent and passive. Students of ALL AGES CAN & MUST
DO GOOD EVERYDAY to make a positive difference in their life,
their community and in their world.
This is my presentation Promoting Peace
Let me know what YOU think.
