Slide 1—IntroAt Esri, we want to make a difference in the world, and we believe geography is vital to addressing the complex problems facing the world today. A geographic information system, or GIS, enables you to capture, analyze, and present all forms of geographically referenced information. This data is visualized and interpreted through maps, reports, and charts that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends. In short, GIS is a system for understanding ourselves and the world around us.G58427v1.1, April 23, 2013
