you will also enrol with them and be subject to their specific Terms and Conditions in addition to the College’s):
This document outlines the key Terms and Conditions you need to be aware of. Your course handbook(s), available

all the documents associated with your course as they contain important information particularly relating to the
academic regulations you are subject to.

award you will receive on successful completion of your course and who is responsible for awarding it
(awards are made by the University partner or awarding body and not Bridgwater College)
additional accreditation applicable to your course (the only course with this at present is FdSc and BSc (Hons)
Motorsport Engineering for with IET/IMECH accreditation)
duration of the course and format of study
location of your studies (all higher education courses are delivered at the Bridgwater and/or Cannington
Centres with the possible exception of short periods out of the College grounds for residentials and trips)
who will be teaching you during your course (this is detailed within your course handbook). The College
reserves the right to change teaching team members during the year when necessary but the College is
responsible for ensuring that they are appropriate to teach the subject area. Changes to teaching teams do
happen on occasion and are often out the College’s control, for example sickness or resignation of staff mean
that the College cannot sometimes help but vary from the list provided at the start of the year in your
handbook. The College will make every effort to ensure your classes are covered should this happen and get
a qualified and appropriate teacher to take over as soon as possible.
cost of studying your course and that you are subject to paying course fees for every year of study (the
College does not increase fees for you year on year so the fee you pay in the first year of study will be the fee
you pay every year for the duration of your course) and, if you do not pass and are offered the chance to repeat
modules/units of study that there may be a fee attached to that
additional costs to your programme (most programmes do not carry additional costs; where there are
additional costs to the enrolment fee you will be made aware of these in good time ahead of the event or
activity).
need to provide all relevant documentation to confirm your enrolment by the deadlines specified by the
College, failure to do so may result in the College being unable to process your enrolment. This includes
providing original evidence of your qualifications that your offer for entry to the programme was based on and
genuine photographic identification such as a driving licence or passport. If you fail to provide any or all
supporting evidence at enrolment the HE Team will confirm the timeframes within which you must supply it
to the College.
Assessment and academic regulations
You will be subject to the academic and assessment regulations of the awarding University if your programme is
approved by a partner University, or by the College’s Assessment Regulations if you are studying a Higher National
Diploma or Certificate. Within the published assessment regulations are full details of how your marks are calculated
and weighted to produce your final marks and classification of grade (if applicable). You should take time to become
familiar with these policies, summaries are often also contained within course handbooks for each university partner.
The University partners all have fully published policies available on their websites and the College’s document is
available on its Blackboard site, HE Information or from the HE Team via HE@bridgwater.ac.uk. Your course tutor
should highlight any key facts about the assessment regulations you are subject to early on in your course.
Payment of fees
By enrolling with Bridgwater College you are committing to the College’s Fees Policy, key headlines from the policy
are below and guidance is available on the College’s website via http://www.bridgwater.ac.uk/feature.php?id=142
fees will remain the same for each year of your study
you will be liable for the fees for the full course even if you withdraw part way during the year and your student
loan is cancelled

been cleared

you cannot complete your enrolment until you have made payment OR you have evidence of payment in place
such as a student loan or payment by a sponsor (such as your employer)
fees may be made in instalments
failure to pay fees may result in the College withholding your final award certificate
If the College cancels your course you will be eligible for a full refund
Cancelling your enrolment (within 14 days of enrolling – cooling off period)
If you decide, within the first 14 days of enrolling, that you do not wish to proceed with your studies you may do so
without any penalty. If you do decide to do this you must follow the guidelines within the main section about
withdrawing from your programme of study. After 14 days have lapsed you will be liable to the College’s Fees Policy
as summarised in another section. If you are enrolled with Oxford Brookes University you will be subject to their Fees
Policy and should consult their website for further information on this via http://www.brookes.ac.uk/studying‐at‐
brookes/finance/
Withdrawing from your programme of study (after the first 14 days)
If you decide to withdraw following the completion of your enrolment you may do so at any time but your withdrawal
must:
be made in writing to the HE Team by emailing HE@bridgwater.ac.uk
include a reason for withdrawing
Once you have notified the HE Team of your withdrawal we will:
ensure you are withdrawn from the College’s system
put in place the process to action your withdrawal with the University partner (if applicable)
This is important because once you are withdrawn from the College and/or your university partner and if you have
a student loan then the action of withdrawing you from your course will ensure the Student Loans Company is
automatically notified.
If you do not notify us in writing that you intend to withdraw you will not be withdrawn from your programme of study.
If you withdraw and you have completed assessments during the year and achieve some credit or an exit award this
will be considered by the relevant Assessment Board (or equivalent) at the end of the academic year and you will be
notified of the outcome and will not be eligible to attend graduation.
Student conduct
You are expected to conduct yourself appropriately whilst studying at Bridgwater College. Inappropriate behaviour
that results in the College exercising its Disciplinary Policy to the final stage may result in the College withdrawing you
from your programme of study. If this happens you will still be liable for the full fee for the year. You will be awarded
any credit that you have achieved to that point as approved by the Assessment Board (or equivalent) at the end of the
academic year. The College’s HE Student Charter provides details on how the College expects you to conduct yourself
whilst studying here.
