4. The First Continental Congress
September 5, to October 26, 1774
Delegates from each colony met to
show Britain that there was unified
resistance from the colonies
Although many of them wanted the
same thing, there was a lot of
debate and discussion
It was decided that they would meet
again the following year if King
George and Parliament didn’t not
listen to their concerns
5. The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere
April 18, 1775
Rode from Boston to Lexington and
Concord with William Dawes
Needed to warn Samuel Adams and
John Hancock that the British
were coming to arrest them and
to take control of the arms
stored at Concord
6. Wrap-Up
• The Boston Tea party was a strong resistance towards
the leadership in Britain. The colonies were looking for
change
• Colonists needed leadership. Electing delegates to
represent them at the First Continental Congress was a
move towards trusted leadership, something they
hadn’t experienced with Parliament or Kind George
• Lexington and Concord was the first key stand off
between patriots and red coats. The militia was
prepared and ready
