1. Tzetvan Todorov’s Theory of The Structure of A Music Video
Todorov’s Theory states that media texts have a structure that
covers three key stages:the equilibrium; the disequilibrium and
the new equilibrium.The equilibrium is the calm part of the
media,which then leads into the problem (the agents of
disruption) this is the disequilibrium.The new equilibrium is
everything that happens after the problem, whether it be good
consequences or bad consequences.
However, because you are condensing so much time of footage
down to three minutes,music videos tend to only include certain
parts of Todorov’s Theoreticalstructure. For example,some
music videos often only include the disequilibrium and the new
equilibrium or even just the disequilibrium.
