2. IDENTS
• An ident is a moving image/ logo that is shown before a
programme starts identifying the film production and distribution
companies.
• It helps the audience to understand the genre of the film
as different companies are well known for certain genres.
• Companies with good reputations will also influence the audiences
opinion of the film and affect the marketing and promotion of it.
3. CONVENTIONS
• A single clip showing the film rating card with age restrictions for the film. Usually it
has a duration of about 3 seconds. It then fades into black.
• Then a clip is presented showing the company ident of a releasing company that is
involved in the distribution of the film. The duration of this clip normally lasts about
1-2 seconds, moving straight into the next ident afterwards. A non-diegetic music
track begins to play.
• The next clip shown is a company ident of the production company with a similar
design to the one before. The duration of this is around 1-2 seconds as well and
fades into black before the teaser trailer begins. Again a non-diegetic music track is
played in the background.
4. CONVENTIONS
• These company idents appear the very beginning of the teaser
trailer and are normally animated.
• The idents used are very simplistic which include the name of the
company and a simple design logo.
6. DESIGN
• For our ident we have decided to go for a simple design and copy one that can
be easily modified to suit our target audience.
• The below company ident is a good template to use which we can then change
the colour of.
