2. 1. Not Reading the Guidelines
It’s important that you familiarize
yourself with the Facebook Promotion
Guidelines.(https://www.facebook.com/promotions_guidelines.php)
Failing to do so can leave you
vulnerable to having your contest and
page shut down, or worse, legal
action from Facebook or contestants.
3. 2. Using Facebook Features & Functionality
Facebook states: “You must not use
Facebook features or functionality
as a promotion’s registration or
entry mechanism.”
This includes likes, comments,
picture uploads and messages as
entry requirements.
4. 3. Not Including the Small Print
You must include the following in your
disclaimer:
A complete release of Facebook by each
entrant or participant.
Acknowledgment that the promotion is in no
way sponsored, endorsed or administered by,
or associated with, Facebook.
Disclosure that the participant is providing
information to [disclose recipient(s) of
information] and not to Facebook.
5. 4. Announcing Winners on Facebook
You can’t notify winners through
Facebook, such as through Facebook
messages, chat, or posts on profiles
(timelines) or Pages.
6. 5. Not using a third-party app
Promotions on Facebook must be administered
within Apps on Facebook.com, either on a Canvas
Page or an app on a Page Tab.
