Normal plasma lactate:
➢ Unstressed: 0.5-1 mmol/L
➢ Stressed: < 2 mmol/L
➢ Hyperlactatemia: 2-5 mmol/L
➢ Lactic acidosis: usually > 5 mmol/L with associated
metabolic acidosis
