2. On a warm Saturday
afternoon, I decided
to go to Gamble
Gardens. It was a
beautiful day, and I
wanted to spend the
day outside. The tall
trees were filling the
bright blue sky.
3. In 1981, Elizabeth

4. The City Council was conflicted
over what to do with the garden.
The Garden Club of Palo Alto
renovated the garden and house.
In 1985, the garden was
successfully turned into a public
garden.

6. Personally, I have
wondered how the garden
is maintained without
anybody working there. I
learned that there are
countless volunteers that
manage the gardens.

9. Gamble Gardens has
many tall trees, which
provides shade to the
area. This tree is
called a eucalyptus,
which you can identify
because of the bark.
10. This particular tree has a
unique pattern and texture
on its trunk. It is my
personal favorite.
11. Along with many
trees, Gamble
Gardens also has
numerous unique,
colorful flowers from
all around the world.
13. Alstroemeria, also known
as the Peruvian lily, is a
native South America
plant. However, it has
spread to the United
States, Mexico, Austria,
New Zealand, Madeira, and
the Canary Islands.
19. Flowers can’t stay alive
forever, and eventually
they die. Enjoy them
when you can and take
time out of your day to
walk around & smell the
flowers.
