Static elimination in injection or blow moulding
Problem
During injection or blow moulding, the high temperature and high pressure inside the mould,
and also the sudden changes in temperature that are usual in the moulding process, all
generate static electricity on the moulded surfaces. These electrostatic charges have several
undesirable effects such as:
1. Dust attraction that leads to rejections, especially in companies that manufacture
medical and food containers
2. Moulded components may fall off a conveyor due to static, which jams the conveyor
and stops production
3. Electrostatic charges can interfere with the electronics in weighing scales, metal
detectors, etc. causing incorrect readings or cause these devices to malfunction
Solution
Use AxisValence’s Valstat ionising air blowers to blow ionised, filtered air through
nozzles onto the moulded components. The ionised air not only neutralises the static
charges, but also blows unwanted particulate matter off the components.
