3. Origins of CrossFitTraining
The origins of CrossFit date back to 1974 when 18-year-old college student Greg
Glassman accepted his first athletic position as a gymnastics coach at his local
YWCA. As he went on to work in a number of Southern California gyms, he began to
find a number of problems with bodybuilding as it had traditionally been practiced.
Mr. Glassman began to develop a training routine based on constantly changing,
functional movements that are performed with a high degree of intensity. He
ultimately found that this training method allowed for greater fitness improvement
in less overall time.
4. Origins of CrossFitTraining
Since its official establishment in 1995, CrossFit has grown to support affiliates all
around the world. Although anyone can learn the basic movements and common
exercises associated with the CrossFit, the program is geared toward “forging elite
fitness” using a range of techniques that have been borrowed from the worlds of
weightlifting, powerlifting, and gymnastics.
