Affordable Care Act is an attempt to provide health care services to each one solving the
problem og high cost associated with health care in US.
The Affordable Care Act actually refers to two separate pieces of legislation — the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of
2010 — that, together expand Medicaid coverage to millions of low-income Americans and
makes numerous improvements to both Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program
(CHIP).
The main components/provisions related to this act are as follows:
The act has provided Americans with better health security by putting in place comprehensive
health insurance reforms that willExpand coverage,Hold insurance companies
accountable,Lower health care costs,Guarantee more choice, andEnhance the quality of care for
all Americans.
It has focused on the problems of costs, access and quality of health care of poor ones living in
US. For example provisions related to allowing individuals to purchase healthcare through state-
run health plans, provides cost-sharing subsidies for individuals making between 100% and
400% of the Federal Poverty Limit (FPL), provides premium tax credits to increase the
affordability of state-based plans have reduced the cost. And provisions like imposition fines on
employers with 50 or more full-time employees who fail to offer insurance to their employees,
allowing young adults to remain on their parents’ insurance plan until age 26 years, requiring
health insurance plans to increase coverage and access to preventive services etc are realted to
solve access problems. And provisions like allocating funding for community health worker
training, providing training grants for physicians in primary care specialties, increasing physician
payments for primary care services provided by qualifying physicians and non-physician
providers operating under a qualifying physician’s supervision etc are related to solve problem of

And provisions like imposition fines on employers with 50 or more full-time employees who fail to offer insurance to their employees, allowing young adults to remain on their parents’ insurance plan until age 26 years, requiring health insurance plans to increase coverage and access to preventive services etc are realted to solve access problems.
