a laser targeting system, forming a complex curve through

courtier, author and translator popularly known as the
inventor of the flush toilet. He became a prominent
member of Queen Elizabeth I's court, and was known as
her "saucy Godson".
•The work for which he is best known today, A New
Discourse of a Stale Subject, called the Metamorphosis of
Ajax is a political allegory and a coded attack on the
monarchy. His New Discourse described a forerunner to
the modern flush toilet that was installed at his house at
Kelston.

•The origin of the code-term X dates back to 1971 in San Rafael,
California, which then was used by a group of people called
‘Waldos’.
•They used to meet at the Louis Pasteur statue on the grounds of San
Rafael High School at a particular time, hence, it was referred as “X
Louis”, later shortened to simply “X", which consequently evolved
into a codeword which used to mean what it presently means.
•Observances based on X include time-centric activity of some kind,
as well as, an unofficial global event on April the twentieth, annually.
In one such occasion in 2009 at UC Santa Cruz, the VC of Student
Affairs had to send e-mails to parents stating: "The growth in scale
of this activity has become a concern for both the university and
surrounding community.”

12. X = 420 , 4:20 OR 4/20
•The activities being smoking cannabis around the time
4:20 p.m., as well as smoking and celebrating cannabis on the
date April 20 (4/20 in U.S. form), every year.
•The original plan of the Waldos was to search for an abandoned
cannabis crop that they had learned about, for which they kept
4:20 p.m. as their meeting time.
•The plan, later on, failed and 420 ultimately evolved into a
codeword that the teens used to mean marijuana-smoking in
general.

•X, born to King Prithu in the Solar Dynasty, was an ancestor of Lord Ram. As he
grew old, X's soul deserved ascension to the heavens, but he wished to do so with
his mortal body & requested his Guru Vasishta to perform the needful rites to
achieve this goal. Vasishta refused to do so as it was against the law of nature.
•X then approached Vasishta's eldest son Shakti to help him, attempting to lure the
young sage with promises of wealth and fame, which angered Shakti, who cursed
X, turning him into Y.
•Y, later on, met sage Z & appealed to him for assistance, to which Z, who had an
intense rivalry of Vasishta, agreed. Upon Y’s arrival in heaven, the Devas were
alarmed by this unnatural occurrence. Led by Indra, they refused to permit him to
enter, & tossed him out. Furious, Z used his powers to arrest Y's fall, causing the
latter to be suspended mid-air upside-down.
•Z again used his powers for the creation of a parallel heaven, restored Y & began
establishing him as the Indra of the new heaven. This alarmed the Devas who then
tried to console the sage & withdraw him from his act.
•Z gradually reached a compromise to let Y inhabit the new heaven, which shall be
called Y's heaven & Y shall reside upside down in his heaven so as not to supersede
the command of Indra.

15. X=SATYAVRATA,
Y=TRISHANKU,
Z=VISHWAMITRA
•The story of Trishanku is told in the Bala Kanda portion of the Valmiki
Ramayana.
•Trishanku is commonly referred to through mention of "Trishanku's
heaven". The word Trishanku has come to denote a middleground or
limbo between one's goals or desires and one's current state or
possessions.

•X is an unusual and complex form of Y that is seen in a narrow band right above the
horizon, which can be seen on land or at sea, in polar regions or in deserts. It can
involve almost any kind of distant object, including boats, islands & the coastline.
•X is the Italian name for the Arthurian sorceress & antagonist of King Arthur & Queen
Guinevere, Morgana Le Fay, from a belief that these Y’s, often seen in the Strait of
Messina, were fairy castles in the air or false land created by her witchcraft to lure
sailors to their death.
•One of the most famous example is the Flying Dutchman (image in next slide), a
legendary ghost ship that can never make port and is doomed to sail the oceans
forever.
•In the most recent appearance, a “floating city” (image in next slide) seemed to appear
over the city of Foshan in China’s Guangdong province, which lasted a few minutes. A
few days later, a similar thing was reportedly seen in the province of Jiangxi.

19. X=FATA MORGANA,
Y=MIRAGE
•"La Fata Morgana" ("The Fairy
Morgana") is the name
of Morgan le Fay in Italian.
•The Flying Dutchman is usually
spotted from afar, sometimes
seen to be glowing with ghostly
light. One of the possible
explanations of the origin of this
legend is a Fata Morgana
mirage seen at sea.

•Saint Young Men is a Japanese slice of life comedy manga series
written and illustrated by Hikaru Nakamura. Its plot involves X and Y, who
are living as roommates in an apartment in Tachikawa, part of the suburbs
of Tokyo. While taking a vacation, they attempt to hide their identities and
understand modern Japanese society.
•In the series, X is portrayed as an impassioned person for his love for
all (even for shopping), whereas Y tends to be calm and thrifty, and also
likes manga.
•Apart from its manga series, it has also been adapted into 2 original
animation DVDs & an anime film which was released on May 10, 2013.

23. X=JESUS CHRIST,
Y=GAUTAMA BUDDHA
•The comedy in the series often involves visual gags and puns, as
well as jokes in reference to elements of Christianity and
Buddhism; for example, Jesus creates wine from water in a public
bath and Buddha shines when excited.
•Each chapter in the manga comics shows their lives during an
average day, when they are sightseeing, drinking beer, blogging, or
playing video games.
•In Japan, the manga has sold over 10 million copies. It received
a Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize & was nominated at the Angoulême
International Comics Festival.

quest to resolve unrequited admiration. Images utilizing “P” will
sometimes feature superimposed cherry blossoms, meant to
represent romance, and anime-style facial expressions.
•While the word ‘X’, which appears in “P”, is depicted in Japan as
an upperclass person, usually of a higher age, or senior, kōhai is
depicted as a protégé or junior. In manga & anime, ‘X’ is depicted
as an older person whom a particular younger person adores.
•‘X’ can be used as a suffix for addressing a person like -chan, -
san or even -X itself, e.g, "Urameshi-chan”, “Urameshi-san”, or
“Urameshi-X”.

26. X=SENPAI, P=NOTICE ME,
SENPAI
•‘Senpai’, or ‘Sempai’, is a Japanese honorific term used when
speaking to someone of an elevated social status in schools,
dojos or sports clubs. Romantic anime and manga often feature
stories involving infatuations with senpai.
•Several variations of the catchphrase are being used in social
networking and blogging sites, like “Senpai, Notice Me”, “I
Hope Senpai Will Notice Me”, “Has Senpai Noticed Me
Yet?”.
•On the other hand, if the unrequited admiration is reciprocated
by Senpai, then Kōhai could positively say “Senpai Noticed
Me!” or “Senpai Has Noticed”.

•X is a 1993 science fiction horror-themed first-person shooter video game. It
is considered one of the most significant and influential titles in the video
game industry, for having ushered in the popularity of the first-person
shooter genre.
•X was notorious for its high levels of graphic violence and satanic imagery. It
sparked controversy, when it was found that Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold,
who committed the Columbine High School massacre in 1999, were avid
players of the game.
• The term “Y” was used to described the style of gameplay in X-like games.
While the term was initially popular, it was after 1996 gradually replaced by
"first-person shooter", around 1998 the phrase "first-person shooter" had
firmly superseded “Y”.

•[08:46] is an app which is a narrative driven experience
designed for virtual reality, which makes you embody an office
worker in the ________ during the X events.
•Anthony Krafft, the creative director on the project, states that
this game was produced "as a tribute to the victims of our
generation-shaping experience” and that the team wanted to
approach the historical events from an individual nature.
•The team developed the game with references ranging from
interviews to many journalistic works on X.

32. X=9/11 OR SEPTEMBER 11
ATTACKS
•It lets you experience the events of 9/11 from the
perspective of one of the office workers in the North Tower
of the World Trade Center.
•The title is a reference to the exact time the first plane,
American Airlines Flight 11, crashed into the North Tower,
between floors 93 and 99.
